I just heard about the passing of Michael Duke. I knew Michael because his mother was the adopted sister of my grandmother, Jane Bruce. I last saw Michael in Fox Harbour, Newfoundland back in 2008. We did a harrowing hike up Burnt Hill. Thankfully, he was there otherwise I am not sure we would have ever gotten down. I was talking to him before the pandemic about another visit to Newfoundland that never materialized. He was a kind man and I looked forward to seeing him each time I went north. He will be missed. Michael's children, Tony and all the Members of the Duke Family, Please accept my deepest sympathy on Michael's death. I have good memories of being close in age to Michael and feeling a connection with him because we were in close grades in school and because your Mom and Dad were such good friends of my parents. Several years ago, we met again and had good conversation about our school days and memories of our parents. May you find peace and comfort in knowing Michael's goodness, his gentleness, his love for family. May Michael rest now in the love of the Risen One for all eternity. So sorry to hear of Mike’s passing. Even though our paths crossed fewer times over the years we always had time for a chat and reminisce about the old days and what was new in our lives. I’ll miss his phone calls on June 19 every year as we shared the same birthday. He always talked highly of his kids and all his brothers and sisters. My sincerest condolences to his daughter and all the Dukes and their extended families. I’ll miss him

I was saddened to the hear the news of Mike's passing. We were life long friends and neighbors and kept in touch over the years. When he was home he always came for a visit or two and would call occasionally just to have a chat. Sending condolences to all his family. May he rest in peace.
