Obituary of Sheila Mae Glanfield

SHEILA MAE GLANFIELD (nee Hewitt)

March 17, 1950 - March 28, 2023

Sheila lived a life that was centred around the love she had for her husband, Michael, her children Jenni and Andrea, Jenni’s partner Kristen, step daughters Megan and Jessica, and grandchildren Cullen, Leea, Ben, Charlie Mae and Audrey Grace. She valued family above all else and was cherished by her sister and brother-in-law, Bonnie and Brian, her niece Caryn and partner, Mike, and her nephew, Skip and partner, Sharon. Sheila’s chosen family includes her personal angel, Marilyn, as well as many other friends and colleagues who enjoyed her accepting and easygoing nature. Even in her final days she was a giver, wanting to be sure that the people she loved were taken care of first. Sheila shared Kodak moments with Mike, Andrea and girlfriends on trips around the world, including Scotland, her favourite place on earth. Throughout her thirty-year career, working for the Town of Whitby and the City of Oshawa, she met dear friends for life. From a young age Sheila was a poet who expressed her understanding and appreciation for life through language, music and dance. She never forgot her roots, speaking warmly of her childhood on Ward’s Island in Toronto and sharing memories of her parents Ernest and Doris (nee Taylor). Sheila will live in our hearts forever and memories of her laugh and smile will uplift us. A celebration of Sheila’s life will be held at DeStefano Funeral Home, 1289 Keith Ross Drive, Oshawa on Sunday April 2^nd @ 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Back Door Mission in Oshawa.
