Our hearts are heavy as we mourn the loss of Marina, our dear and cherished family friend. Her bright spirit, kind soul, and infectious humor will be treasured by us all. Although we hadn't seen her very much lately, I have great memories of Marina and Gianni, and Claude, Jane and Elizabeth as we were growing up. Our families were very close in the old days. And the great friendship has lasted throughout. We extend our sincerest sympathies to all. May she rest in peace. She will be forever missed.

I remember seeing Marina’s smile and friendly eyes from the first time that I met her and every time I had short visits with her, Liz, Jane and Robert.
I met Marina later in her life through her daughter Elizabeth. Hearing the stories of her life over the years, the challenges that she endured to finally arrive in Canada and all that she accomplished throughout her life In Canada is a testament to her strong personality, courage and determination.
I enjoyed the times that she and her family welcomed me into their homes to have a chat over a cup of coffee and a sweet of some kind with her-especially the treats from the Portuguese bakery and Hy-Hope Farm.
I will miss this amazing woman with her vest of the day on and cell phone in the pocket, as she sat at the table enjoying a piece of cherry pie and a huge scoop of Kawartha dairy ice cream.
