Freddy, I remember the times you visited Newfoundland when we were younger. Your smile always lit up the room. You were kind, gentle and thoughtful in everything you did.
Rest in peace, Freddy. Your beautiful smile will be missed but we will always remember your kind, gentle manner. You are now a part of God’s beautiful garden. Keep glowing. Until we meet again.

I only just heard the news so sadly missed the opportunity to tell Freds Family in person what a lovely human being he was and it was an absolute pleasure to have worked with Fred at 55 Division C Platoon.
It is heartbreaking to have lost him this way and my sincere condolences to his family. He was a wonderful police officer.

To Vanda and the boys, my heart is with you, always. May all the memories posted on this tribute bring you joy and ease any suffering. Vanda, you are an amazing person and the boys are so lucky to have you as their mom. You're so strong!
Fred, aka "Rick" as I once knew you, you always had a smile that lifted hearts. Your kindness, compassion and funny nature helped me grow into who I am today and I will never ever forget how you helped me through the roughest times of my life. You were an amazing friend and an amazing being. Thank you. I will miss you, especially our chats over Vanda's dinners. Rest in peace sweetheart.

Happy memories of my sweet friend Fred over the years. With love remembering and honoring a giant heart of a human being. You will always be in our family. "I always thought that I'd see you again"

It is very difficult to write something, which contains enough love and respect deserving for my friend Freddy.
So let me do that in verse.
⚘
A friendship is something to treasure. Through all our days and years. A living breathing organ, to share smiles and wipe away tears.
A friendship never dies, it is always in your heart. The bond between two school kids and the adult maturing part.
Birthdays, graduations and holidays. A time to sit and share. Enjoying kindness energy, at each family affair.
The drops of love remain since 1982. A friend forever and always. Like a brother I saw in you.
Random fun adventures and nights of playing games. Going to the movies and volunteering in the sun and rain.
Festivals at Providence and up north to Loretta and dads. On the lake boating, and walking along the paths.
Rama trips to gamble with Gay and Matt for fun. Stopping for a meal, french fries were on the run.
Cullen Gardens and go carts, zooming around the track. Playing in the bumper cars, little Aura in your lap.
Snowing icy blizzards, up to the roof you go. Stopped our house from caving in, shovelling off all of the snow.
Suppers by the hundreds, and music concerts too. Def Leppard rocked the stage and Boston grew on you.
I still cannot believe it, not wanting to be true. Fred I am so sorry for all that you went through.
I love you oh so dearly my friend of many moons. A gentle sweet remembrance I will always have with you.
A musical gift you gave me, represents your gentle ways. Comforting me now and tomorrow, I will cherish all my days.
Sometimes we choose a path, we think is right for us. Not quite realizing the impact of heavy stuff.
A humble soft mannered person, with smile so bright and true.
Took not just on his sleeve, but in his heart the blue.
Tender hearted people, with that gentleness inside. Please follow a path that nurtures, the compassion that resides.

A very happy face at the Williams house. Lots of gifts good food cake balloons and smiles. All for Fred. It was his birthday February 29th. He was born on a leap year. Once every 4 years. A funny story to add to this picture I ran into him earlier in the daytime at a mall in Scarborough. I pretended like I didn't even know it was his birthday and he was mortified. But I was at the mall to pick up those balloons and a gift for him. When I called him to come over he was so surprised. He said I thought you forgot all about my birthday. And I said how could I ever do that. He was so happy.

Although I didn’t have the pleasure of growing up with Freddy as my older cousins in Ontario did, I was always touched by his gentle, kind soul. Freddy was a beautiful human being. Although the world is a little dimmer without his light, it is a better place for having shared his life.

Fred was one of the first people I could call a true friend stretching back 40 years to our high school days. His smile and laughter were contagious and had a heart of gold.
