To Gloria and Family
I taught with Art at Paul Dwyer 1975-1979 and found him to be a warm, decent, compassionate, professional human being with a great sense of humour. It saddens both Sharon and me on his passing. Our condolences to you. We remember your graciousness and hospitality in welcoming us into your home as we were new to Oshawa. Sharon thinks about you and your children whenever we eat popcorn. You invited us for dinner and movies and, of course, popcorn. Sharon also remembers the stuffed mushrooms. We wish you well. We thank you - as we fondly remember Art - for your kindness and generosity. Stay well and take comfort in knowing that Art was a good man who touched in a meaningful way all those who had the pleasure of being in his company. Forever grateful in knowing him.

Greg and family,
My deepest sympathy for your loss.
Although I didn’t know your dad, hearing your stories of his get-together's over the past year with family and friends in Jamaica and the U.S., suggest he continued to live his life to the fullest.

My heart felt condolences to you his family for your loss. Mr Chai taught me (or tried to ) teach me at Dwyer in the early 70s. On one or two occasions myself, Mike Tarus and Art(as I called him outside of school) went smelt fishing. A few laughs, a few beer and some smelt was usually how it went. I don't think teacher/student relationships are like that now but we sure had a blast with him as did everyone else who knew him. Just wanted to share that little story. He was one of the "good guys."

Art's selfless service and dedication to his Catholic faith, to Catholic education and to young people will always be remembered and celebrated. His words of wisdom as Guidance Counselor influenced many to make wise and careful choices. May God bless him and his family at this time. Former students and colleagues of Art's may also leave messages for the OCHS/Monsignor Paul Dwyer Catholic High School community at www.pauldwyer50th.com and click IN MEMORIAM.
