My Dear Friend, your talent, skills and a wonderful person will never be forgotten. I will keep you in my heart and remember our times together working in the Town of Ajax. I will miss our Girls Night Out and will lift a glass of your favourite Merlot wine and toast to you my special Friend over 30 years. Until we meet again. Deepest Sympathies to Danielle and Christian, your Mom will live on in you both.

My husband and I and our daughters are so incredibly fortunate to have not only known Marie, but to have lived right next door to her for many memorable years. She was so warm and welcoming to us when we moved to our new neighbourhood and it didn’t take any time before we loved her like family. Our daughter Cora has such fond memories of doing “bug patrol” with her in her gardens. If Marie was outside when our girls went out to play, she always had a special treat for them…a candy or a popsicle, and would welcome us over to her patio for a nice visit.
We are lucky enough to have seen her light up the stage on several occasions too, performing for her family and friends. Some of our fondest memories being from when she’d sing at our neighbourhood “Christmas in July” celebrations.
She was simply the best. So kind and genuine. With the most beautiful smile, the best laugh, and such a fabulous personality.
We love you “Neighbour” and will miss you so very much xo

Marie was really one of a kind - anyone lucky enough to have crossed paths with her would agree.
She was like a third grandmother to me, basically “adopting” me into her family and life almost immediately after meeting her. Going out of her way to check up on me, even when she wasn’t in her best health. Her life stories, advice, and funny one-liners will stay with me forever. She would tell you what you needed to hear - even if you didn’t want to hear it. She was insanely smart, level-headed and understanding to the fullest. I cannot put into words how much she truly helped me in the short time I knew her.
Marie would spend hours telling me about her son, daughter, grandkids, and other family and friends. It was clear how much she loved them, and how proud of them she was.
Marie was able to enjoy a lavish lifestyle over the years, but, it was clear that her biggest joy/accomplishment was the family she created. She impacted us all immensely, and I know her family has absorbed, and will continue to spread, her bright, loving, and kind energy.
We will never forget Marie!

These past few weeks have taken me back to when Marie and I met. She was the first person I sold a home to in 1973 and several more after that. We clicked right from the beginning and soon became fast friends. She was the sister I never had. We were going to be the Golden Girls.
Marie was God Mother to two of my children. We raised our families together, we travelled together. We never missed our weekly bingo together. We did many trips far and near on the back of motorcycles. We took crocheting class together. I had the pleasure of spending time with her Mother and Sisters in Quebec. I could go on and on because 50 years covers a lifetime and there is not enough room on this page.
Marie will be missed by all who knew her. Our thoughts and prayer are with her family.
Memories are forever

Marie was a treasured friend with great spirit and fun personality. We met accidentally about 2005 while wandering along the beach on Manasota Key Florida. Marie was savoring the sand as she sauntered along and my wife Anne and her started chatting. Anne said with your fashion sense you have to be French Canadian. Imagine within seconds they realized that we both lived in Whitby within minutes of each other. Anne invited her for dinner at our place as we were having Stone Crab. After dinner Marie rose from the table & said what a wonderful day it brings a song to my ❤️. She then belted out a beautiful song and we all agreed it was a great day and the beginning of a great friendship

Thinking of Marie's children and grandchildren during this time of deep sorrow. Marie was such a cherished friend; I truly enjoyed my time with Marie. We met at a dance hall and immediately 'clicked' together. I had great admiration for Marie's musical talent which I truly didn't have any myself! I remember the special time she took me to church. I had a few sleep overs at her house; I was so scared of her pup but realized that I truly didn't have anything to be scared of as the pup sat at my door all night keeping guard of myself...lol...silly me. Marie was such a beautiful host demonstrating social graces and etiquette. Marie was such a lovely soul inside and out and her legacy will live on their the spirit of her family. Marie will be greatly missed by all of those who knew her. They say 'when someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure' which is the case of Marie.

My sincere condolences to Marie’s family.
I knew Marie during our mutual careers in municipal government. Marie was my AMCTO conference buddy. We travelled together to the conferences, attended the conference social events and of course shopped. I remember one time she found a pair of shoes that she loved so much that she proceeded to buy them in every colour. Marie regularly sang the National Anthem at the opening of the conference and once she joined the conference gala band to sing “Kansas City Here I Come”.
Marie was a five foot one spitfire with a million dollar smile whose joie de vivre was absolutely contagious. Marie will be greatly missed by everyone who ever had the pleasure of knowing her.

Our condolences to Danielle, Christian and family. Marie was a firecracker, with beauty, talent, and personality galore. But most special to me was her loyal friendship and kindness. I have so many wonderful “Marie” memories of our drives to/from church choir rehearsals and big band gigs. I think we solved all the world’s problems during those trips and shared a lot of laughs while doing it. :) I love that Marie always sparkled, literally and figuratively. She often had a touch of glimmer in her clothes, shoes, purse, or accessories that matched the sparkle in her eyes, the glimmer in her smile, and the sunshine in her heart. And she was so kind and thoughtful to all my family. Marie, our dear friend, you will be missed. Amies pour toujours, Michelle, Michael and Shannon Flynn

My heartfelt condolences to Marie's family and those closest to her. I knew Marie through her municipal work. We worked several elections together. She was a real firecracker and when the hard work was done could always muster a group of otherwise stoic municipal clerks and treasurers to sing and carry on. See you in heaven, Marie.

Marie was my mother and also my best friend……over the past 15 years since we had moved next to each other I gained not only a great neighbour, but my mother also became my best friend. Marie taught me patience humility and to always try to be kind to people. My mother also showed me to have confidence in the things you do but also to be thankful for what you are capable. Marie taught me things about flowers and gardening instilling a sense of appreciation as well as inspiring me to paint flowers over the past few years. I simply do not have the words or space to write everything I would actually like to say about marie, she was a great mom, supportive, loving, smart, a great performer, a great friend as well as diligent and generous. I simply can’t express my loss……marie had a heart of gold and could light up a room with her beautiful smile. Mom if anyone deserves a seat in heaven it’s you, and I’m sure there is a space there with your name in shining lights.

So sorry to read of Marie's passing.
Came to know her when her good friend and my cousin Marjorie Yosepenko passed away many years ago. One of the stories that would emerge from there friendship was that she was a great singer.
Would see her the odd time and we would exchange greetings and also by way of Facebook would be connected to her.
"Memories are forever"
Condolences to her family.

Nos sympathies à Danielle, Mike, Quinn, Lochlan, Christian & Christie.

Maman,
Where do I even begin? You brought me into this world and spent the next 39 years raising me, loving me, teaching me. You were the foundation of who I am; your confidence, humour, strong values, work ethic and most of all your love were the building blocks of my character. You were forever putting Christian and I first and never for a moment letting us forget how special we were to you. You saw me through every challenge with compassion and kindness. You celebrated every milestone with exuberance and cheer. You were the first call I made every day; our daily conversations started when I left for University 21 years ago and never stopped. Our daily texts and messages chatting about everything and nothing, sharing photos and silly jokes, discussing what was happening in the news...where do I find that deep-rooted friendship again? The answer is I never will. You were my soulmate, maman. You were my conscience. My best friend, always. My heart is broken into a million tiny pieces and of course all I want to do is pick up the phone, call you, and hear you tell me that everything will be okay after a good night's rest.
You left a shadow that I can never fill; you were a formidable force of nature, my God. You had a whole life before kids; a talented singer that I was fortunate enough to witness at concerts and events many times over the years. Always thinking to myself, look at her! That's MY mom! And then you pivoted to family life and completely gave yourself to us with every fibre of your being. You overcame SO many challenges, and you never once complained about it. You just picked yourself up and carried on, because that's what strong women do. What an example you have been to me and to your grandchildren. I only wish they could have known you longer, because 9 and 7 years with them was not enough.
Maman, I promise you that I will do my best to respect your legacy and everything you've taught me over the years. I will practice kindness, compassion, generosity, forgiveness. Like you, I will be the person who shows up to her dentist's appointment with coffee and donuts for the reception staff, because you never missed an opportunity for a nice gesture. I will be the neighbour who goes out of her way to make treat bags for the neighbour's children, because bringing a smile to someone's face made you happy. I will be the friend who others know is always there with an ear to listen, because you were always there for me. I will forgive those who have hurt me, because your faith was strong and so were your convictions. I will keep loving you for the rest of my days Maman, because you loved me for all of mine.
I wish I could have saved you. Je t'aime pour toujours. Veillez sur moi et les garçons, et nous vous reverrons un jour.
Ta fille,
Danielle

Marie and I spent 17 years together, and produced 2 terrific children. So many memories. We met in North Bay, where my band was playing at the local hotel. Our agent said we could do better if we had a female singer to work with our 5 male performers. Maries agent said she could do better if she had a permanent band. All the guys in the band agreed that no one would "hit" on this new compliment to the band. Then we all did. She fought us off bravely, but I eventually won. Many years of waiting in the wings while she performed at places like the Royal York, Tommy Hunter show, Gordie Tapp show, and her trips overseas to entertain troops with Mickey Rooney and others.. Even to Alert, Nunavut CFB. For 5ft 1" of Sunshine, man could she belt oy a tune. I bet she is leading a choir of angels. Rest in peace Marie, you earned it.
