Obituary of Gioseph Anello
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Gioseph Anello on Sunday, April 28th at the age of 66. He left us in the same way he enjoyed his life, quietly and gently with his family by his side at home.
Gio lived his life with purpose, courage, love, laughter and a wonderful sense of humour. He will be missed and loved always by his wife of 43 years Teresa, his children Joelle (Brian), Daniel (Vanessa), Julian (Larissa) and his cherished grandson Benny who meant the world to him. He was so very proud of his family and found joy and pride in their lives, accomplishments and the people they became.
He was the cherished brother of Francesco (Marianne) Anello, Domenic Anello, the late Caterina Mauro (Frank), the late Carmen Anello, Maria Anello and Peter Anello. Brother in law to Lucy Trasmundi (Frank), Jack Quiquero (Kathy), Mario Quiquero and Vince Quiquero (late Cristina). Uncle to many nieces and nephews, friend to many near and far. He was predeceased by his parents Maria and Domenico Anello and his inlaws Maria and Flaviano Quiquero.
Gio retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Canadian Forces after 25 years of service serving across Canada and in Germany as well as Commanding Officer at CFS Alert. He then was Director of Waste Management at the Regional Municipality of Durham. He will be remembered as a man of remarkable energy and spirit.
A special thank you to his amazing care team; Dr. Wentlandt, Dr. Barrettara, Dr. Morra and the nurses and doctors at the Lakeridge Dialysis Units, both the peritoneal and hemo and especially to Dr. Barrese.
In keeping with Gio’s wishes a private family funeral will be held at DeStefano Funeral Home, 1289 Keith Ross Drive, Oshawa on Friday May 3rd. Live stream will be available at 12:00 pm by CLICKING HERE. In lieu of flowers, please do something kind to your fellow human beings. Gio made the world a better place with his life, let it be the same in his death.
