HOUGH, Elaine Anne
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Elaine Hough on October 19, 2015 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Elaine’s love and creativity will remain as hallmarks of her life. She loved her family dearly, leaving behind her husband Harold, her sons Heath (Andrea), Joel (Dea) and her beloved grandchildren Alex and Christian. She is also survived by her sisters and brothers Frances (Doug) Ratchford, Sandra Schuster, Eugene (Maureen) Logel, Susan (Ron) Miller, her twin brothers Rick (Caron) Logel and Reg (Donna) Logel and by Harold’s brother George (Kathy) and her nieces and nephews. She loved puttering around her beautiful gardens, especially the pool house area where she spent many hours hand trimming and sculpting the different trees into gorgeous creations. She further enhanced the pool house with unique carvings and paintings. As a graduate of the Ontario College of Art she also enjoyed weaving, but her real artistic love was to design and make exquisite jewellery. If you are fortunate to have one of these pieces, there is a piece of her in each one. She was the loving confident and right hand for her husband Harold, to whom she was happily wedded for 49 years. To Harold, she was his revered soul mate and a source of wisdom. Her work here is over and she is now in a place that is free of pain and suffering. We will all miss her terribly and love her forever. Visitation will be held at the DeStefano Funeral Home, 1289 Keith Ross Drive, Oshawa (south side of Taunton Road, east of Thornton Road by the Oshawa Airport)905-440-3595 on Friday, October 23rd from 2-4 & 7-9pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, 130 Watford Street, Brooklin on Saturday, October 24th at 10:00am. Interment will follow at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery. In memory of Elaine, donations may be made to the Christian Children’s Fund of Canada or to a Children’s charity of choice. Memories may be shared at www.destefanofuneralhomes.ca
