Lesley and I were deeply saddened by such a loss. We both started our careers in 1985. I had a chance to play golf at the IG Ryder Cup this year with Matt and was telling him how fortunate I was to get to know both his Grandfather and Father (as was IG to have great leaders like them). Also, I did have a great time with Matt and although he has big shoes to fill I have no doubt he will. Fortunately, I got to shake Dave's hand at the golf course and congratulate him and LeeAnn on their first granddaughter - Dave was still beaming with the news. Always a positive person; he could always find a silver lining to every cloud and make the best of every challenging situation. Dave was a total winner, fun to be around and you could not help to learn how to be a better person just being with him. This sad news really hit home and we will miss him. Please accept our sincere condolences to LeeAnn and the family.

LeeAnn,
I am shocked and saddened that David your partner in live has suddenly passed away. You both have been in our thoughts since we no longer saw you at the yoga studio and hoped you were both well. Last night, David's passing was discussed after class and your yoga friends from Thursday night were saddened. It gave us pleasure to see you both together and how he carried both your mats and would guide you by placing his hand on the small of your back. You could see the love you both shared. David will be missed. We hope to see you soon LeeAnn when you are ready. Feel our comfort around you as you face this difficult day and the ones to come. Namaste
Elaine and your yoga family in Port Perry xo

Dear LeeAnn, Matt, Michael & Family,
Please accept my deepest condolences on the passing your wonderful Husband, Father, Father-in-Law and Grandpa. I retired from the Whitby IG a couple years ago but have many memories of my time there listening to Dave give his inspirational talks at the Region Meetings and of course his contagious smile and uplifting conversations. We both lived in Port Perry and would give each other the heads up when a bad snow storm was coming and roads would be closed. He will be greatly missed and I am deeply sorry for your loss.

During my time so far at IG I had many opportunity’s to learn from David as he became one of the greatest mentors I have ever had. If you followed what David shared with you, you were sure to be successful.
He always gave everything he could to aid in the success of others and lead us to continue to grow into the best we could be both in and out of the office. The weekly training sessions and the many events I got to go to with him and others were always something I looked forward too. It was always going to be awesome!
Being able to share new ideas and having discussions about all we learned from the different events we went to together is something that I am going to miss.
I am always going to remember him as a great friend and mentor that believed that I could be successful. David’s passion and positivity will always continue to resonate with me.
I give my deepest condolences to LeeAnn, Matt, Mike and family during this time. Change is something David embraced head on and has led many to be the best they could be though all changes good and bad. I know David be with you though this change and he will continue to be there celebrating your successes as he did each and every day.
He will forever be Simply The Best.

To the Roth family,
Words cannot express how much David truly impacted my life and how much I will miss his smiling face. He was the one person at work you looked forward to seeing everyday! David would come to my desk every morning, looking super sharp and say " Hey Kate! How are you? Matt coming in today?"
David truly had one of the BIGGEST hearts that shined through the lives of everyone he met. That shine will never dull. You could ask David to meet you for an event outside of the office and he would be there to support! Even if it was a pond hockey tournament on Scugog. I'll never forget him flagging me down in his bright jacket to watch the game's going on with him. Watching turned into talking like crazy to the point where we had to move away from the speakers because it was too loud, and he had lot's to talk about :)
Your Father, and Husband lived a wonderful and beautiful life. I am so grateful that I could be a part of it for the 3 years I've known him.
" Sometimes, when one person is absent, the whole world seems depopulated" - Allphonse de Lamartine
The office will never be the same, but Mike and Matt I am so glad you will be there to carry on his legacy. I know your future is bright and you will honour your father everyday. You have both made him so proud.
Sending you ALL of our love and prayers during this difficult time of loosing such a special man.

Dave was a mentor of mine when I was an RD with IG in the 1990's and 2000's. His message was simple. Make everyone around you better. Make them successful, both in their personal lives as well as their career with Investors Group. Challenge them to be in his words, "Simply the Best". To Dave's family, take comfort in knowing that Dave touched and influenced many families all across this country. He touched them by being, simply Dave. From a warm handshake, to a profound sense of direction in his life that many others followed. It matter not if your operation was big or small. Dave made time for all. God bless the family. May you take comfort in knowing that so many care.

Leeann, Matthew and Michael, I am so sorry to hear of David's passing. Living in BC I never had the opportunity to get to know David. There is a saying that says we stand on the shoulders of giants who have gone before us. David was one of those giants and even though I didn't really know him I was in awe of what a great leader he was at Investors Group.

Leeann, I am in total disbelief as to what has happened. I still haven't come to terms with it. I feel so badly for you and the boys and your family.
I will always be grateful for David bringing me into Investors Group and being my mentor. If not for him, I would never have made it in this business. What a great person with so many accomplishments which will never be duplicated.
Even though we weren't close these past few years, I still remember the early years visiting your home, spending time with you and Dave, seeing your boys grow up -- fond, fond memories. I will always remember how good you both were to me. My best years at I/G! Thank you so much for that.
David will be so missed, it just won't be the same without him. I will hold on to those great memories from such a great man.
If there is anything I can do, please let me know. Your family will always be in my thoughts.

My dearest Lee Ann, Matt, and Micheal you all know you are like familly to me and as I share this brief note with you all, my eyes are still filled with tears! You all mean the world to me and I will always be here for all of you for the rest of my Life! What can I say? I have not experienced this type of pain in my heart and soul since my own father died, the same year Bill died. Hey BRO, how she go up there? We did not plan it this way, we had so many plans to retire together bring our families to warm climates in the winter months and create new wonderful memories with our grandkids. My faith is being tested like never before, since the day we met at initial school in Head Office, and your Dad brought us into Toronto to teach us train the trainer...we became best friends! You were the best friend I ever had! Our thousands of stories together will be kept between us. I remember well when my Dad passed you came and stay with me to help me through my grief and when your dad passed I had the honour to do the same for you. You did the eulogy at your Dads funeral and played Bette Midler, THE WIND BENEATH MY WINGS, the words of the song represented your mom and dads relationship. Well my best friend, I never told you this but for the last 33 years you have been THE WIND BENEATH MY WINGS!!! I love you David with all my heart and soul, till we meet again...Rick.

Dear LeeAnn, Mathew, and Michael ~ I was so very saddened to receive the news of Dave's passing. Dave remained my brother Tracy's best friend beginning in High School and for good reason. Dave was genuinely a thoughtful and caring person. I fondly remember his visits to our home. He always had a smile; he always was interested in what I was doing. Later, I recall my week stay with you both at the beginning of my career with General Motors. He would drive me to Oshawa in his Pontiac Grand Am. To this day I remember him taking the time to help me. That was 1985. Since then pursuing my dreams led me far away from home. Unfortunately, visiting family became less frequent than I had ever planned but fortunate during one of those visits to see you and Dave, and meet Mathew and Michael. That was an extra special visit. It's memories like those that found a special place in my heart. Please accept my most sincere condolences.

LeeAnn and Family,
David gave me the foundation for a successful career, a gift I will always treasure. He was a great leader and I am a better person today as a result of knowing him. His presence in a room was something I always felt, a positive aura that he exuded that just lifted your spirits when you embraced it. His career was about helping others, something that he succeeded with greatly and continues to do through so many people like myself. There is so much to celebrate about David's life. The memories and lessons he taught me are things I will continue to celebrate, be grateful for, and reflect upon for the rest of my life.

The fear of losing a friend or loved one is the fear of change itself. Being used to that person day after day. Then to suddenly lose that person we experience a longing for that person that is extremely difficult to deal with.
With David’s sudden passing, this is an opportunity to start again, learn from the past, embrace change as he so brilliantly taught us and make a brand new beginning. David was more than a Regional Director at IG, he was my friend, my mentor and a true leader of people
Our most sincere condolences to Leeann, Mathew and Michael, as well as Davids extended family and many, friends.

Dear LeeAnn, Matt and Michael ~ I am deeply sorry to hear of David's passing. He was a great man and a great leader and no doubt his will be expressed over and over again by the many he touched with his positive nature. I have many fond memories of David ~ including the very first time we met. It was 1985 and David had just joined IG and I believe Matthew was an infant. It was Dave's dad, Bill Roth, then Ontario AVP [another great man] who introduced me to David and LeeAnn in the Hospitality Suite or an Area Convention. I nice memory for me. David influenced me in a meaningful way and for this I am forever grateful. Words cannot do justice to the magnitude of what David has meant to you and to all of us who knew him. My greatest prayer for you is that the strong showing of support, great memories, and the words of encouragement you will receive in the days ahead, will somehow assuage your loss. David is now an angel on your shoulder. With love and respect, Perry Catena

Where do I begin!! I met David in 1985 while he was in Winnipeg for his first training school. He was quite reserved!! Our friendship began then and grew over the years. Getting to know LeeAnn and then meeting Matthew and Michael meant so much to me. My heart breaks when I think about him being gone. I'll miss the phone calls while he was driving home. I'll miss his laugh, the encouragement he was. The willingness to listen to an idea and give feedback.....the willingness to give feedback even when it wasn't asked for!!
I will miss you, my friend.
LeeAnn, Matt and Michael, you're in my thoughts and prayers as you mourn and will continue to be as you adjust to your new world.
