There was never a dull moment when you were around Jake! Honestly, bowling with you was probably the most fun I ever had when bowling! I'm really going to miss seeing you at Bowling School, at NEBs for Youth Challenge and honestly at almost every other tournament I was in :)! Not to mention, you were an amazing friend, basically like a distant brother to me! When the world lost you, heaven gained an angel. Can't wait to see you again someday. Love you Jake.

Jake was not only one of the most kind-hearted people but he made an impact at our school that is not to be forgotten. Ever since our first year at camp, he has been a symbol of guidance for us, encouraging us to get out of our shells and embrace and build upon our personalities. He was always the kind of guy that you wanted to be around through his wondrously positive attitude and ability to put a smile on anyone’s face. He was never shy to say hi to you in the hallway even if you weren’t close to him. In the many councils that he was a part of, he ran many successful events and inspired others among the group to become their best selves. At leadership camp, he was the guy you could count on to lead the cheers, participate in events, and guide others to where they needed to be. Jake was always the one to give positive feedback on games and workshops that the committee ran, and he gave helpful suggestions for the following year. He was loved tremendously by everybody around him at school because he had touched so many hearts and set an example of what it meant to be a good person.
Thank you, Jake, for everything.

Pearl and Gary, our heartfelt condolences to you both. We only had the privilege to know Jake for just over a year and yet it felt like we had known him much longer. He became a regular at our home and part of the family. Everybody liked Jake. His outgoing personality and friendly demeanour made him a joy to be around. We will miss seeing him at the rink and the baseball diamond where he became Bec's number one fan. We will miss the way he joked with Maari but mostly we will miss the laughter and smiles he brought to Bec. Smiles that can only come from someone who means so much and a true best friend can bring. We will forever cherish the time we had with him.

Our deepest condolences to Gary, Pearl and the whole family. JT became one of Matthew's first friends when we moved to Pickering in kindergarten. They grew up together going to school since then and playing ball on the same team for many years. We all have so many memories of Jake, from Cooperstown to coaching him in Select and Rep to Altona Forest and on many shared drives to baseball games all over the province. JT was a happy fun loving kid who always loved to be the centre of attention in whatever he was doing. Jake was always happiest on the ball diamond surrounded by his teammates. Jake was so involved in our lives that Matthew said the other day "JT was just always there, whatever I was doing, school, baseball, umpiring or just hanging out". We will all miss JT's infectious smile and laugh. I know your parents are very proud of the young man you became.
We will miss you JT.

I am really sad to hear of Jakes passing. I first met Jake on my first day at Altona Forest Public school(JK) Jake became one of my first friends as young kids we had a lot of fun together. Jake was known to be a kind guy who had a lots of humor and always had this big smile on his face I could never forget. As the two of us got older we shared a lot of memorable moments together, one of my most memorbale moments with him was getting in trouble with the teachers. We had came back from our outdoor recess and I slapped him on the back and he turned to me and asked "if I wanted to go at it" I smiled and said "I dare you". When I went to my locker to get my snack I realized my lunchbox was missing and then I knew it was Jake. Obvioulsy I was a tattle-tale and told our 8th grade teacher what Jake did but he got me back by telling the teacher I slapped him and we both got in trouble. Even though we got in trouble we always shook hands after and laughed about it. Not only was he a funny guy but he was a very kind person, I rememebered one day in grade 8 after Music class I was asked to organize some music sheets Jake didn't leave he stayed and helped me until I was finished. Our friendship continued to grow as we entered highschool, even though we didn't share any classes whenever we see each other we'd stop and talk and ask one another "how's it going bud". I could say so much more about Jake but one thing I know forsure is that he was like a brother to me and he always will be, and I will dearly miss him. On behalf of myself and my family we would like to express our sincere condolences to Jake's family.

Our family is so saddened to hear of Jakes passing, the news broke our hearts. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Pearl, Gary, Courtney and family. Our daughter Keleigh started school with Jake and about one week into JK, Jake became Keleigh’s hero. Ever since then they have shared a special bond for one another. Jake was always there for Keleigh during high school years and it will be hard for her not to have him by her side. I always said to Keleigh, Jake will always be that forever friend you will have and know for years to come. She will forever have him in her heart and we will as well.

I first met Jake at Altona forest and at all of the school events, he became the sound guy. In high school at Liam’s “get togethers”, his phone would normally be hooked up playing tunes all night long. Jake was an inclusive, easy going and very welcoming person. During intermediate band, Jake excelled at popcorn making, which made our weekly practises all the more enjoyable. In grade 8, Jake and his dad ran a baseball team at our school, and even though I wasn’t very good, he saw that I wanted to learn and made sure I was part of the team (even if most of the time I was just a benchwarmer). In outdoor ed, Jake’s scouts abilities helped with knot tying and braving the wind. If u ever needed a knot tied and orsh wasn’t around I would go see him. I’m not sure how many times Jake sat with me tying the same knot but he always was caring and showed persistence. In grade 11 chem class, with Megan, Teaghen and I, he knew what was going on more than the three of us combined did, and he helped us out all the time in that little back corner of Jewer’s class. Jake has always been someone with a lot of friends because of how caring and inclusive he was. We will miss him.

Jake was an amazing Co-op student in Mrs. Wilkinson's Grade 1 class at Highbush PS from January to June 2018. From the first day he walked into the classroom, he was polite, efficient, knowledgeable about technology, and kind and caring with the students. He developed a special rapport with them from the outset, sharing his love of baseball and bowling. Nothing was ever too much to ask of Jake. He created a math wall, he photocopied and did errands, took kids to the gym, and supported students who needed extra assistance. Jake made a baseball stats board for the kids to follow, he came early to play with students outside before his shift began, and he stayed late every day to finish whatever he had started. He coached some of our students in baseball, and he always came to school with a smile on his face. Students and staff loved him. We always said that Jake was one of the best Co-op students we ever had. One of the most memorable things about Jake was that he wore a different baseball cap to school each day, and students loved to see which one he would be wearing. We would like to say how deeply saddened we are for your family's loss. Jake was an exceptional young man with a bright teaching career ahead of him. He will be very much remembered and missed!

You grew your wings too soon. Make sure you hang out with the amazing ball players.
Jake you always brought a smile to my face when you walked into the room.

I am deeply saddened to know you have left this world and pray you are at peace. You are an amazing young man and I was honoured to spend time with you. Your humour will be forever missed and cooking will never be the same. Anyone who ever had the opportunity to meet you will forever remember your smiling face. Miss you Jake. ❤️
