Dear Rhea, Jerrold, Deanna, and all of Ma's grandchildren and great-grandchildren, I so wish that I could have been there to celebrate the life of your mother and my dear friend, Joanne, with all of you. It is still so hard for me, as I know it is for you, to believe that she is gone. I will remember your Mom with great fondness. She was so kind and thoughtful, so loving and giving... She had the greatest laugh and humour... She delighted in all of you and in making sure those she loved were treated to the best that she could offer. She has been my good friend for forty years and our friendship has grown deeper over the years, despite the distance... I can't imagine not hearing from her again, but we all have such fond memories of her because she lived her life giving to all of us, so strongly, that I can still hear her laughing. I hope that you take comfort knowing that she is free from all suffering and has been reunited with your sweet grandmother, and her old friend, Erica, who she has missed so much. On Friday night, Tammy joined my friend Dolly and I at Szechuan Gardens, in Windsor, to celebrate your Mom at a dinner of her favourite, Chinese food. We raised our glasses of water in a toast to her memory. Yesterday, I lit a candle for her to keep this Book of Memory open, so that we can share our stories. The memories of all the good times, the fun, and the funny stories, are flooding through my mind. I will try to share them with you. My love and cyber hugs go out to each of you. Love, Susan <3 xo

I've known Joanne for many years, and I've twice been her supervisor. What a great Lady! We would have marvellous chats about life and she would always ask about my kids and she was so very proud of her children & grandchildren. A lovely person always ready to share a laugh. I am sorry I cannot make it to the funeral. My thoughts & prayers are with you all.

Dear Family, Children, Grandchildren: Joanne Shelley was my colleague at Highpark/Parkdale S.S. I recently saw her at my office, Etobicoke South. We had an opportunity to catchup on past times. Joanne looked really well & she was full of memories and we shared much laughter. Joanne was especially fond of collecting salt & pepper shakers' which I might scout for her when at any antique market, or the St. Lawrence Antique market. Her hobby was fasinating. While still at the former office, she told me of her love of cabbage rolls, well, being the Croatian culinary maven, I promised her some cabbage rolls. Well I remember how much she raved about how good they were. Joanne wrote a thank you card - in her gracious character, thanking me for the cabbage rolls. Joanne Shelley was a gragarious lady and I enjoyed our friendship at work. May your family be comforted in the certainty that Joanne was much adored and appreciated in her life. Our office is forwarding a gift for the famly to utilize in which ever manner, or for what purpose you shall designate. Sincerely, Marica Faukovic

Ms Shelley, Oh how I miss you. My fondest memories are working across from you at the Dovercourt office, at Social Services. Each and every day started with laughter, even when we didn't think it could; not to mention the spontaneous laughter throughout the day. I will forever treasure our talks. Congratulations Joanne, we still don't know how old you are....that's perfect! May all your children and their children be comforted by the outpouring of love surrounding them. Joanne, you brought so many gifts to life. You will never be forgotten. With love and hugs, Rosanna Cervi

Rhea, Jerrold, Deanna and families, please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. Joanne is one of the greatest part of my childhood memories. She was always so generous with herself and set a great example of choosing a happy countenance and enjoying the people and especially the children around her. I will always smile when I think of her and I can hear her wonderful laugh. Her generosity had. Big impact on my young life and I am greatful for that. Love and hugs. Tammy
