Dear Roberto, Stella, Mrs. Leef, Karen, Scott, and other family and loved ones of Sandra's,
I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Sandra today. Many years back at St. Peters we were a few friends often together and Sandra was always a bright light with a sparkle in her eyes, and such a beautiful woman. We communicated here and there through re-connecting on fb, and I was in awe of how she had always pursued her passion for books and made them her work, and enjoyed watching her and Roberto's world travels. The last time we communicated she was reaching out to express concern over my Mom; that is the kind of person Sandra was. My sincere condolences for your loss and no words can appease your pain. Absence in body means presence with the divine. She'll always be with you.

Sandra, there are no words to describe how much sorrow I am feeling by losing you; there is an enormous void in my life without you as you can possibly image.
When I first met you I took notice immediately how very genuine you were, so very kind, caring, so giving and so very sweet, I wanted to be with you. I knew you were special but we also had so much in common which made our relationship so tranquil and natural.
Being with you completely changed my life, you opened all the doors to things I never imaged I could have, the most incredible experience was having our beautiful daughter Stella, having a family and the joy that brought to us and our families. Jennifer thank you so much for making this a reality for Sandra and I, I am forever grateful to you, you’re an amazing person.
Stella is the light of our lives, and as I have always promised to you Sandra I will do everything I can to guide her in her life for the better but as we both know she’s a whipper-snapper almost out of control for a 5 year old! Stella reminds me every day of you to brighten my thoughts when I’m sinking and asking why? Your presence remains with us that will never change. So many things in our home remind me of you!
Sandra I have so many wonderful memories that will be part of my life with you forever, we traveled to many destinations in the world and experienced so many beautiful things and places together that will never be erased from my mind.
You have taught me so much about life and its true meaning, I feel so blessed by you and so fortunate that you were in my life, but I am heartbroken, there was so much more we had to do together with our little Stella.
I followed your lead to move to Oshawa, again you showed me the way to a new life and home that I didn't image and our dreams came true thanks to you, bringing us closer to your family, especially your Mom who adores you, having a wonderful place for Stella to grow with new family memories and your wonderful niece and nephew, Hannah and Logan.
I see now in-spite of everything that this was the plan for me; this is where I was meant to be. I know your spirit and soul remains with us all and you’re watching over us. I have received so much love and support from our families and relatives; I thank you with all my heart.
So many of your friends, work colleagues & business people have come today even from the US to pay their respects to you Sandra. They speak so highly of you, your wit, charm, humor and your great personality and how you changed their lives as well; both on a friendship or professionally basis which is not a surprise knowing you, they all miss you terribly and are deeply saddened. Thank you to all for your messages of prayers and condolences, its comforting to know Sandra was treasured at work as she truly loved her job.
Sandra although the journey ahead without you will be very hard, but I know one day I will be with you again in a different place and time. All those who knew you will always love you with all their hearts and remember you.

"It's hard to forget someone who gave you so much to remember."
I first met Sandra when we were both reps for different companies through a mutual friend who had invited us both to join her book club. That book club eventually became more of dinner and drinks club with a bookish theme. The book club didn't last, but our friendship did.
We have shared many adventures over the years from trips to exotic locales like Chicago, Paris, and Annapolis Royal, to racing through the PATH trying to beat the seniors to the good pool noodles at the Goodlife Manulife's lunchtime Aqua fit classes.
Sandra loved trying new restaurants, and I know there are many of us who have great memories of meals shared during Toronto's Winterlicious & Summerlicious festivals, the Christmas market at the Distillery District, and trips to locate the best new food trucks each summer.
Sandra had the best laugh, a smile that was contagious, and a very generous heart. Her stories (and impersonations) were hilarious. She was also such a smart, savvy, inspirational businesswoman, with a real passion for her job and an amazing eye for picking hidden gems from her list and turning them into bestsellers.
She will be missed by so many people. I feel privileged to have known her, and I will value our friendship always.

I knew Sandra through my best friend Ellen Warwick. I have fond memories of sitting in Ellen's kitchen with Sandra, drinking a cup of tea and catching up on the latest publishing news. The thing I'll remember most about Sandra is her smile. It was like warm sunshine.
My deepest condolences to her family. The world is a little less bright without her in it. My hope is that you are all there to support each other through such a difficult time.

I am absolutely devastated about Sandra's passing...she was always hilarious to be around and had a wicked sense of humour. Some of my favourite stories came from Sandra. My deepest sympathies to Sandra's husband, daughter, family and friends, for the loss of a lovely human being. Funny, kind, smart and pretty, Sandra was terrific fun, and one of the nicest people I knew in the biz. I got to know her in her Vancouver days, when she had the mystery bookstore on 4th, and had to deal with assorted authors, faithful customers and the occasional streetside nutjob; she was nice to all of them and took people as she found them. We had alot of laughs together in a crazy business. She's gone far too early, and I am so very very sorry.

We are so heart broken from the loss of Sandra. She was a ray of light, full of happiness and love. We were so honoured to have her as part of the Silano family. A wonderful mother to Stella. A true and loving wife to Robert. I remember when he introduced us to Sandra, he was beaming from ear to ear, so very proud and so in love. Sandra will be sadly missed. We are so very thankful for all the great moments we shared with her. My condolences to the Leef family, Robert, sweet Stella and all of her friends.

It's not hard to recall that Impish grin, twinkle in her eye and a burst of laughter at the ready. When I first met Sandra she opened the Mystery Merchant in Vancouver in the early 90s. I often found when I needed a boost or a ray of sunshine, she was my Go -To. She would run to take a quick bathroom break and we were almost even... and later it was so fun to hang out in Toronto too. I didn't ever get enough Sandra time. She was always the bright light in every room. Lovely, funny, and kind. I loved that Robert and Stella were apart of her life. Cannot fathom that she is gone.
