Dear Zia Fausta, Gabe, Sandy and families
Our deepest condolences on the passing of dear Zio Ugo. My greatest memory is after the passing of our Dad and his brother he would often come to visit us making the long trip to Mississauga. He took me to watch Sandy’s hockey games and helped us get through a difficult time. May he rest in peace.

Our mother’s (Antonietta’s) younger brother, Ugo, was a dear uncle to all of us kids. Not only were the bonds of family forged in Scigliano, Italy where “Tonetta” was given the responsibility of taking care of her younger brother (the second of 5 brothers), but those bonds grew ever stronger when both Ugo and our mother and father (Tonetta & Nino) established their lives in Oshawa and came to live together to push ahead in this new country, purchasing their first home in Canada together.
Ugo’s love as an uncle was evident early on. His support to our mother was instrumental when he took our mother to different doctors navigating a new healthcare system and language barriers to help our parents’ second daughter Adriana, survive a serious infection as a baby of two months old. As we grew up, so did Zio Ugo and he married Faustina, someone who became like another younger sister to our mom. Zio Ugo’s family, including our cousins Gabe and Sandy and ours were close growing up in the same neighbourhood, attending the same schools, so much that our mother often called her own son “Ugo” denoting the lifelong brotherly bond. Visits to our parents, and especially after our aunt and uncle had spent a winter in Florida were joyous occasions, with lots of laughter and time spent around coffee and cake, or some such garden goodies like Tonetta’s zucchini fritelle. Zio Ugo touched each of us in his own way and was an important driving force and connection for our family especially in the early days in Canada; but we will always remember him for the brotherly love he showed our family. We are grateful for the time Zio Ugo spent with our family. May he rest in peace.
Our heartfelt condolences,
Mary, Adriana, Tony and Dina Grande

I remember back in the late 50’s when you, the first automobile owner in the family, brought home that beautiful new GM car, shiny, chrome, shades of blue and white. It was a symbol of you at the time, young, exciting, full of promise for the future. I was just a kid and I fell in love with the sleek lines, chrome, colour of the car. You were so proud of that car, and all that it represented. That car might not be around anymore, but the memory of you and the car will always stay with me. Riposa in pace, Zio Ugo, sarai sempre amato e ricordato

Dear Fausta, Gabe, Sandy and families
My deepest condolences on the passing of dear Ugo. I will always remember how he used to drive from Oshawa to Mississauga to cut my grass after the passing of his brother Cesare. Always a smile and helping hand. His love for family will live on forever in his children and grandchildren. He left a beautiful legacy which will live on. May he Rest In Peace and May his family be comforted by the Lord and all the memories you made along the way.
Love Silvana Chiodo

As we say good bye to zio Ugo, let’s remember him for his love for family and caring man that he was. My memory of him is what my mother told me of him having bought a crib for me when we arrived from Italy. His legacy will live on through this special thought and his loving family, you will be deeply missed, but never forgotten. Your love, your laughter, and your sprit will forever be a part of us. We love you Zio Ugo.
