Only learning now of Scott’s passing.
I grew up with Scott and the rest of the Avison Family on Cassels St. In Ottawa. Along with the Sherwoods and Armstrongs, we had a marvellous childhood filled with fond memories. Who could forget the go carts, flying model airplanes at the Filtration Plant, playing at the Yacht Club across the street and all the troubles the gang would get into (Wendy and tulips come to mind :-)). It was inly a few short years but to us at that age it was everything and what a sad day it was when the Avisons had to move away. Scott and I are born only seven days apart. Reading about his extended family brings a smile to my face as I know the apple does not fall far from the tree! I trust that the emptiness that all his loved ones would have felt at his passing, has now been filled with the warmth of the memories, that no doubt Scott would have helped to creat. If any of the Family are ever in Ottawa, please look is up, we have not moved. God bless to all his family, Scott definitely left us all the better for have known him!!

I flew with Scott at Jazz a few times, and always appreciated his quiet, yet thoughtful approach to how he handled his work. I believe his obituary said he "Lead by example". I completely agree. My condolences to you all.

We were very fortunate to have spent time with Scott and Michele while they lived in Halifax . We have great memories of Scott's sense of humour, his dedication as a husband and father . Owen had great conversations with Scott about airplanes and all that goes with that. We have missed seeing them over the years but Scott will always bring a smile in our thoughts as he was a great guy and will be missed.

Michelle, I am so sorry for your loss. I regret not staying in contact for so many years. Scott truly was "one of the good guys!", and he will be sorely missed. We all lost a good soul way, way too early. Unfortunately the planet is a little darker today.
Lois and Dick, thank you for bringing Scott into this world. It was an honour and a privilege to call him my friend. He now has his second pair of wings and will be looking down on us all.
I will celebrate his life on the 4th with three B-52's and a Keith's beer. Here's to you Scott!

Although unheard I thank you
For always being there
Even when you were bedridden
You always seemed to care
You meant so much to all of us
you were special and that's no lie
you brightened up the darkest day
and even the greyest sky
Many tears I have seen and cried
They have all poured out like rain
I know that you are happy now
Cause your no longer in pain.
Four years on I remember you
And what you used to say
You made each of us smile
And live to the fullest each day
They say in time it gets easier
I believe this isn't true
Because even after all this time
I still don't have a clue
I was not ready to say goodbye
Your disease just over took
So on this day we remember you
I take a second look
Our friendship is forever
Until death, did we part
Although your away physically
You're always in my heart
Our love and friendship will always be with you and your family Michele.
