Obituary of Donna Bernice Kingdon

KINGDON, Donna Bernice October 16, 1952 – January 8, 2017 Donna passed away peacefully on January 8th, 2017 after a valiant seven year battle with breast cancer. Donna is survived by her parents, Malcolm and Eleanor Sellars, loving husband Rod, children Valerie Bessey, Steven Bessey & Laura Chapnik, Jeffrey Kingdon, Jennifer & Shawn Gemmell and Melanie & Matthew Akil as well as her sister Debra Scott. She is also survived by her grandchildren Gavin, Annie and Mason Gemmell and baby-to-be Akil. One of Donna’s favorite quotes was ‘Be the change you want to see in the world.’ She lived her life and taught her children the value of spreading kindness and joy to every single person you meet, no matter how small or insignificant the encounter may seem, and that before all else family and friends come first. We celebrate Donna’s passing to glory with a celebration of her life to be held on Saturday January 14th, 2017 at DeStefano Funeral Home, 1289 Keith Ross Drive in Oshawa (south side of Taunton Road, east of Thornton Road by the Oshawa Airport)905-440-3595. There will be a visitation from 1:00pm to 2:30pm with the service starting at 2:30pm and a reception to follow. Donna has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Breast Cancer Awareness and Research and Hearth Place Cancer Support Centre.
